Disappointed, Disappointed, Disappointed

As you have all probably heard, John isn't going to be able to make it to TorchSong due to a serious injury to the ligaments in his ankle. He has been forbidden to fly, and he needs to keep his foot elevated. Needless to say, we here in Chicago are bitterly disappointed but are worried about John's well-being as well. Pat and I first got the news in the shuttle bus on the way from the airport to the hotel. A few of the women had received text messages with the news. We didn't believe them. It wasn't until we met another enclave of women in the hotel lobby, and the news was confirmed that the news started to soak in. It is hard not to be selfish in a situation like this. Many of us have traveled far distances and spent more money than we can afford to be able to attend this event. Yet, we care about John and want him to take care of himself.

The latest news is that John is going to participate via satellite in the panel discussions and will perform a cabaret show Saturday night (I am assuming from the sofa in his living room). We recognize that he has a legitimate reason for bowing out completely, so respect his professionalism and commitment to his fans. But we are sad, very, very sad.

However, we will probably stay for the weekend, and I will post the events of the day, as promised. They just won't be as interesting without John's physical presence.

  1. WHAT?!?!?!?!? ::SIGH:: What a disappointment, Nadine! I am so bummed for you and Pat and all those other people who traveled all that way for him to not be there. I understand the reason, but it's hard to accept. Oh well...

I hope you and Pat will still be able to have a nice time..maybe not a fabulous time, now, but a nice time. The other cast members are still expected, right? You and Pat (and I) will have another shot at seeing him in November, again... I look forward to more posts!
